Book Review: Stand By Me

By Neta Jackson
Published by Thomas Nelson

This was the first book I have read by Neta Jackson. Although I've since heard that some of the characters in this book are carried over from her other series, I was able to jump right in and follow. It was a little slow at the start, but soon picked up speed and was delightful all the way to the end. I enjoy reading Christian fiction and not having to worry about tastelessness cropping in.

I enjoyed the contrast between how we can let our comfortableness with Christianity influence newer Christians both positively and negatively. And how we need to be constantly aware of how our traditions are viewed by those coming from different backgrounds. Since God has made us all differently, we must realize that others will not view us in the same light that we view ourselves.

This book was very ‘light’, not much depth, which led to a fast, easy read. I prefer more plot, thoroughness and depth of thought, but for those that don’t, you will most likely enjoy this book.

Good read, moved along quickly 5/5 stars.
Christian truths and application, 2/5 stars.
